Live Vertical Scaling makes it possible to adjust resources while your system is in operation

Live Vertical Scaling (LVS)

With ProfitBricks Live Vertical Scaling (LVS) it's possible to increase the number of running CPU cores and increase your RAM without having to restart the virtual server. This allows higher performance to meet peak demand without compromising operation; for instance, for database servers with MySQL which will definitely benefit from higher resources.

For ProfitBricks Images Live Vertical Scaling is activated by default. You can change Live Vertical scaling capabilities on your private images or snapshots before applying them to new instances. The Image Manager provides edit functionality to these properties.

CPU

Activate the "Add" checkbox in order to increase CPU cores in a virtual machine up to 62 CPU cores while your system is in operation.

RAM

Activate the "Add" checkbox in order to increase RAM by up to 240 GB for an individual virtual machine while it is in operation.

NICs

In the "Hotplug NICs" field you can add or remove network interfaces while your system is in operation.

VirtI/O

Activate the "Add" and "Remove" checkboxes, so that you can add respectively remove hard disks while your system is in operation.

NOTE

Linus supports all standard ProfitBricks Live Vertical Scaling functions. Windows server instances, however, only support CPU scaling at this time.
