ProfitBricks starts the next generation IaaS

Achim Weiss’s latest coup

The industry veteran Achim Weiss and his international team of engineers have now given the official starting signal for the range of solutions offered by the new company ProfitBricks. The high-tech Berlin-based software development team presents the next generation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – based on the latest hosting and cloud technology, but supplemented by a variety of innovations.

Berlin, 05/21/2012 – ProfitBricks‘ IaaS solution has taken two years to develop. “During this time, we have been working at full capacity on a system that will set new standards in the field of hosting. We have reached this goal“, explains company founder and ProfitBricks CEO Achim Weiss, whose name has stood for creative ideas and solutions for many years. Under his management, for example, the hosting infrastructure of Schlund+Partner, which became 1&1, the video on-demand platform from Maxdome and the mailing systems for GMX and web.de were created. “However, one of my most exciting projects has been the implementation of the ProfitBricks technology“, says Weiss.

The technological pioneer and his team of 50 engineers have created an IaaS solution that is marked by various innovations – where security, availability, speed and flexibility are concerned. ProfitBricks‘ highlights at a glance:

  • a graphical user interface,
  • free networking structures by genuinely isolating customer networks in the virtual data center,
  • interconnected redundant networking with InfiniBand,
  • tailor-made servers and
  • highly-redundant storage.

Customers can use the graphical user interface “Data Center Designer“ (DCD) to assemble a complete virtual data center customized to their requirements and can activate the configuration or change it to suit their needs with a mouse click – for servers, storage, load balancers, firewalls or the respective interconnection.

Another distinctive feature is the use of interconnected InfiniBand technology, which represents the highest level of speed and system stability. “We made a conscious decision against Ethernet, as InfiniBand offers unprecedented performance. It enables us to achieve transmission speeds of 80 GBit/s, which is eight times faster than the current Ethernet standard permits. Our customers don’t need to convert, however, as our infrastructure functions for them as a standard Ethernet, which provides them with the best of both worlds“, explains Weiss.

“From experts for experts“ is also the support team’s slogan. ProfitBricks has its own security team, consisting exclusively of specialists in the IT security field, as well as system administrators with long-term experience. These staff are available around the clock. On the issues of data protection and data security, the company meets the most stringent requirements – the data is hosted in Germany, and upon request as geographically redundant. The company thus complies with all statutory regulations.

“Our virtual data center is the ideal solution for companies that manage an essential part of their business in the Internet“, says ProfitBricks founder Weiss. This includes, for example, SaaS providers, portals, e-commerce providers and Internet startups. “We offer this target group not just the tailor-made technical infrastructure, but have also created a pricing model that offers high-end performance at conditions that pleasantly surprise our customers“
